Latest Review: Abuelo
From the outside, abuelo is quite different to its nearby neighbours, and although its muted terracotta façade and burnt orange tiling may at first seem slightly incongruous to the surroundings; step inside and suddenly it all makes sense. New J D Wetherspoons in Ward's Brewery
Phase two of the £50 million development of the former Ward's Brewery on Sheffield's Ecclesall Road is now complete and popular hospitality giant JD Wetherspoon is set to open the latest link in its chain of restaurant bars on the site.
Acting on behalf of local developer J F Finnegan, national commercial property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) oversaw the sale of the unit to J D Wetherspoon, which is earmarked for a new 500 capacity venue to be named Sheaf Island on the site of the old Ward's Brewery.
LSH, jointly with Crossland Otter Hunt, has been retained by J F Finnegan to market the second phase of the scheme - Wards Exchange.
This phase has delivered a further 5,200 sq ft of retail and restaurant space and Grade A office space ranging from 3,500 sq ft to 32,000 sq ft together with basement car parking.

Endcliffe Park Playground Redevelopment
So that the designs can be realised, the existing playground will close in late June but will reopen for business after a massive building programme in mid September. The Group is concerned that the playground will be closed over the summer holidays, however this period should also provide the most congenial weather in which to build the new playground and enable it to be completed on time. A programme of sports and activity van sessions has already been put in place for Endcliffe Park during the school holidays and the local community is lucky to have the Park's ancient woodland to explore and the vast area of open grass to enjoy sporting and recreational activities.
The proposed new plans are available to view in Endcliffe Park Cafe which will also detail any activities which we hope to take place in the park during the playground's closure.
